The Winery

Feb 9, 2014 by

A few years ago I met a man on line who came from Seattle for a winery tour. I had emailed and spoken with him on the phone for a month before agreeing to our "first date".   I was new to the on-line dating thing so I allowed him to pick me up at my home.   I'm a normal gal who sits back, does a quick evaluation on how I think the evening is most likely to progress before I enter the trap. First impressions were not good... every warning bell went off with in the first 30 minutes. I thought to myself "I know I have never been beaten with the ugly stick but get your hand off my leg and drive this over sized, gas guzzling contraption before it takes its last...

Running Late

Feb 9, 2014 by

I made the decision to move past my most recent heartbreak in a long string of disappointments in men.  I joined a dating website.  I’m ready, my heart has healed and the fear removed. I mean how’s a girl who spends all her time at the office supposed to find a dinner partner, maybe a movie?   I’ve already learned the cardinal rule of never dating a co-worker (the hard way). This time I’m determined to take it slow and really get to know someone before I give my heart…  I will not make that mistake again. I paid my $44.00, posted the photo that looks most like me.  Convinced my girlfriend to write my profile, she met her husband on the same site so she must know what she’s doing. I pressed the “publish”...

Barkley, Is that you?

Feb 9, 2014 by

She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, she said she worked out, but I didn't expect a 45-year-old body that any 18-year-old girl would envy.  I was only 33 and she was more beautiful than any woman my age. She has strawberry blonde hair to the middle of her back; her big blue eyes welcomed me as I introduced myself.  Hi Melanie, my name is Kevin.  I was immediately embarrassed that I had suggested such an average place to meet, she was obviously a woman of class, intelligence and financial means. She was gracious and funny, I found myself completely mesmerized by her wit and humor.  She was a glass half full kind of girl and I liked that.  We spent the next hours getting to know each other.  She was...

Three Emails From The Same Guy?...

Dec 6, 2013 by

He’s kind of cute, lives out of state has a beach house close and says he visits frequently. Perfect! A long distance relationship is exactly what the doctor ordered. I can really spend sometime getting to know him. We exchanged several emails and a few phone calls… What a nice man, stable, owns his own company. Never been married with no kids (warning sign)! We emailed back and forth for three weeks then decided to meet at the beach the following weekend. Conveniently my daughter and her fiance are already planning a beach weekend close by. I called and reserved a hotel room near the kids; hoping I can get them to come with me for at least one meeting. After my last boyfriend I don’t trust my own judgment and a couple more...

The Architect

Dec 6, 2013 by

Wow, what a handsome man... Why is he on a dating website?  An architect too! I’m going to send him a message. We exchanged emails for a week before deciding to meet. He was recently divorced (this falls against my normal dating rules) cute, funny, kind, smart…  so many of the traits I look for when deciding if I want to date someone.  We agreed to meet at a local pub central to where we both lived. I entered the restaurant and recognized him immediately.  He was a handsome as his photos, as I sat down I noticed he must have been waiting for me for a while, there was already one empty drink glass and he was working on his second. I introduced myself and the small talk began… no children, only child,...

A Rag Top VW…

Dec 3, 2013 by

I met a woman while I was foreman on a construction project. I got her number and invited her out. Just wanting to know where she was coming from, I arranged with my brother to let me take his old VW bug (with its torn headliner) to pick her up. Well as you can imagine things didn't start out too well. She seemed irritated with me as I did my best to be polite. I was taking her to Newport Bay restaurant in Tigard, Oregon. We sat down and started talking. She was amicable but definitely not into me. We finished up the meal and after paying for it, we walked into the parking lot to leave. She looked around and said, "Where's your car?" I replied, "It's right there." "Where?" I said, "It's...

My First Online Date

Dec 1, 2013 by

I'm a gentleman so I requested that I pick her up for our first date.  She gave me the address which was in a section of town I was not familiar with.  I couldn't find it so I called her, she said I was right in front of her house…  There were two little shacks together, I couldn't tell which one was hers… I didn't have a problem with that but was concerned when she stood out in the middle of the busy road to waive me down.  She looked nothing like her photo's.  I took her to a really nice French restaurant where she proceeded to very loudly tell me her entire life story, which I really didn't want to hear.  It looked like she was uncomfortable so as she continued her life...

Rich Kid

Dec 1, 2013 by

I met a really handsome man on a dating website, we did the normal routine of emailing and chatting on the phone for a few weeks; we finally decided to meet for dinner. He picked me up at my home in a ridiculously expensive car for a 25 year old, I saw 911 Carrera S on the back and wondered what this guy really did for a living or what was his debt to income ratio. We went to a really nice dinner; he suggested we go back to his house for a glass of wine as he had an amazing view he wanted to show me.  We pulled into the most beautiful mansion I had ever seen, I asked him if he lived with his parents and he said it was his home....

Italian Restaurant

Nov 21, 2013 by

I   had a date with a very attractive woman; we’ll call her Kelly. We went to a cute little Italian Restaurant in the chic part of town, got a great table over looking the river and ordered dinner with a great bottle of red wine.  When the wine was served Kelly asked the waitress for a glass of wine which the waitress returned with promptly.  Kelly opened her mouth, took her teeth out and put them in the glass of water. I was horrified and asked what she was doing? She said she didn’t want to stain her new teeth. Check  ...

I Love Squirrels

Nov 21, 2013 by

I had a first date with a man I met on line.  Needless to say he looked nothing like his picture and had a strange body odor I couldn't get past. During dinner he mentioned that he was very sensitive to animals. The day before he had actually run over a squirrel; he didn’t want to leave him in the middle of the street so he took him home and ate...

The School Bus

My first date after my relationship of nine years ended… I went on a date 2 weeks ago, he picked me up in a school bus. I had to sit behind him so we could talk through the rear view mirror. We later tried to go off roading in the bus but got pulled over by the police. We were on private...

TED is a Baaaadddd Little Teddy Bear....

Mar 30, 2014 by

Well it started out innocently enough... My sister was contacted on Facebook by a girl we knew growing up named Lisa.  Lisa remembered that I took her to the Oregon State Fair one summer and mentioned that I tried very hard to win her a stuffed animal, but never succeeded.  I remembered the experience so Lisa and I have been shooting messages back and forth since then. I ran across the TED stuffed teddy bear and suddenly got the "brilliant" idea that I would send it to her to make up for my deficiency all those many years ago at the fair.  A week or so went by so I decided that give it a go.  I asked for her address, pulled out my credit card and set things in motion. A couple of days...
